As someone who isn't thrilled about going to a bar, but still wants to communal spirit and watch Timbers games with others, I appreciate Hostel Cafe's watch parties. Food is good and I enjoy the indoor/outdoor seating.

I forgot what we ordered but this place seemed a lot less busy than I would think. The food was top notch. It's a quaint quite little coffee shop decorated elegantly. It was so calm and relaxing inside. Seemed like everyone was happy. The rainy day suddenly seemed sunny from inside. We got coffee at another place but ordered food. I got a breakfast burger and my wife got a breakfast bowl with sweet and reg potatoes. Very filling and nice presentation. We'd eat here again. But not for a while because we have more places to try! Not many places have breakfast burgers so I was happy to get one before the Japanese garden. We were 10 mins away by car at this Cafe. Part of the reason we chose it!

Ordered breakfast to go and an Irish cream latte. While talking to the lady at the counter trying to decide what I wanted to get, I let her know I don't like overly sweet drinks. She was paying attention and when I ordered my drink she told me she would ask for it to be lighter on the sweetness. I am picky on my coffee and it was one of the most delicious lattes. Very well made. The breakfast also was quite nice. I had the American Classic.

Quiet spot for weekday breakfast. Breakfast sandwich was yummy and cost 10. The seasonal hot apple cider was 4.50 and delicious. The barista asked if I liked my hot chocolate on the sweet side or the none sweet side. I’ve never been asked that question but I really appreciated it! It’s clear from the taste that the drinks here are made with intentionality. A side of roasted potatoes was 4. The place is kind of small but very clean and the staff are very helpful and kind. It’s not really a sit and stay forever kind of place although there were some people working there and using the space like a coffee shop. Most people came and went only staying 15 min or so. Great option if you’re in the area!

I love this cafe and make a point to eat here when I stay in Portland. The dishes are creative and food is delicious. Excellent coffee, too. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, plus gluten-free bread. They prioritize local food and drinks. I've always had good service. A real gem in this district.

The cafe was amazing! We were staying at the Hostel so we had the opportunity to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Cafe and all were fantastic. The food was delicious. The service was so wonderful and personal. Just lovely . And the atmosphere was so laid back and comfortable. I live in Florida but when I come back to Portland, I will definitely come back here!

I can’t tell you in words how wonderful of a find this cafe is in Portland. The staff is so kind and amazing. The food is out of this world. They have a wide variety of dishes for vegans, and meat eaters alike. The deserts and pastries are always fresh, and I’m pretty sure it’s some of the best coffee in Portland.

I ordered a veggie burger here on my last day in Portland and now I'm kicking myself for not having tried it sooner! It was absolutely delicious. The food has such a homemade warmth to it. Wholesome ingredients, and you can tell people love it because there are always diners in the cafe. I love the laid back atmosphere of the space. Service is excellent too. Don't hesitate to check it out!
